ID1054-Digital Fabrication Lab: At present, the concepts of Fabrication are seen within the paradigms of DoX rules (Design for Machining, Design for Assembly, Design for Forming etc) – constraints they impose on the designer in making a part. Digital Fabrication makes it possible to view fabrication and manufacture as a functional tool instead of a specialized job. It will help us in decentralizing the Fabrication and Manufacturing processes and turn the users into "makers".
The Digital Fabrication Course at IIT Hyderabad is one step in transforming 3D printing into a Design and Fabrication tool instead of a specialized research area. This course is now part of the core-curriculum of all the first year undergraduates across all streams.
ME5730-Rapid Prototyping & Manufacturing: Master's course aimed at familiarizing the students with the fundamental principles of the Additive Manufacturing like solid modeling and data formats, part slicing and build orientation, area-filling strategies, sheet lamination processes, material extrusion processes, photo-polymerization processes, powder bed fusion processes, binder jetting processes, direct energy deposition processes etc.
