Ph.D. positions

Currently we have several Ph.D. positions open in our group.

a) Coal-based adsorbent development for carbon capture: Fully funded Ph.D. position as a part of Centre of Excellence (CoE) on Clean Coal Energy & Net Zero (CLEANZ) at IIT Hyderabad supported by Coal India Limited.
Candidate background: Materials Science, Mechanical/Chemical Engineering or MSc Chemistry (GATE qualified). If interested, please get in touch with me or apply here.

b) Adsorption-based carbon capture: MoE funded Ph.D. position in the Department of Climate Change, IIT Hyderabad. This project involves the development of adsorbents from locally sourced sustainable materials (e.g., agro by-products) for carbon capture application. The main objective is to test the adsorbents under realistic flue gas conditions and technology development at a pilot scale.

c) ALD/PECVD of materials for extreme environments: MoE funded Ph.D. position in the Department of Materials Science and Metallurgical Engineering at IIT Hyderabad. This project involves the development of an ALD/PECVD technique for the synthesis of thin films (e.g., SiC) for extreme environments.

d) Enhanced Coal Bed Methane Recovery (ECBMR): Fully funded Ph.D. position as a part of Centre of Excellence (CoE) on Clean Coal Energy & Net Zero (CLEANZ) at IIT Hyderabad supported by Coal India Limited. This project involves the experimental development of testing gas permeability and associated swelling/fracture under extreme conditions on coal. The scope of the work may include modeling the gas transport properties in coal. Possible joint supervision with faculty from Chemical/Mechanical Engineering.

e) Integrated Carbon Capture & Utilization by Electrochemical Methods: MoE funded interdisciplinary Ph.D. position at IIT Hyderabad. The project aims to develop a single-step carbon capture and utilization technology by electrochemical approaches. Jointly supervised by Dr. Pritha Chatterjee.
